A war has been going on for quite a while now and it doesn’t appear to end anytime soon; I am of course talking about the Apple-Google war. As the customer we have been put into the middle of this all out war allowing us to reap the benefits of this rivalry. We’ll it appears as if Apple is on the offensive this time. The Cupertino based company has reportedly bought Poly9, a Quebec based mapping company, and moved them to California.
So is Apple going after Google Earth? Well, if you remember correctly last year Apple bought Placebase, a mapping service company, and when that happened rumors began to circulate that Apple was going to create a rival to Google maps. It’s almost a year later and there is still no sign of the alleged “Apple Maps”. That being said a lot has happened this year and the Apple-Google war has only intensified, the two tech giants have now started to argue over semantics. So maybe apple is now more prone to releasing the product and attacking Google, while last year they were hoping for this whole thing was going to blow over. All I know is that as long as this feud keeps going we are given an array of new products to chose from and regardless of how this war ends we as the customer come out the victor. So keep your fingers crossed and wait for more news about Apple’s new map companies.
