Apple approves Google Voice App

Oh this battle again???? Ok here's the history: The original official Google Voice app was denied by Apple in 2009, siting "duplicating features that come with the iPhone." The denial caused an FCC investigation regarding Apple's app approval process. Since then Apple published new guidelines which has not only streamlined the entire approval process, but allowed many developers to finally get approval. I'm not usually a sucker for limited editions of any kind but when I heard Motorola and Verizon were teaming up to create an R2-D2 edition Droid 2 I was a little intrigued. Well today marks the beginning of Celebration V, the 5th annual Star Wars convention, so it was the perfect time for Verizon to showcase their new special edition phone. Google waves goodbye to Google Wave

Google officially pulled the plug on Google wave Weds, only 1 year after it's birth. The social networking/collaboration tool just didn't pick the traction Google believed it would. Senior VP of Operations Urs Holzle says "Wave has not seen the user adoption we would have liked...We don’t plan to continue developing Wave as a standalone product, but we will maintain the site at least through the end of the year and extend the technology for use in other Google projects." Chrome Beta – without the Beta

Google's superfast web browser "Chrome" for the Mac is ready for primetime (and what perfect timing with Lost going bye-bye). Google released a beta version of Chrome in Dec 2009, and now has officially stated that it's ready for a stable release. Some features of Google's Chrome:

  • Customized Themes - allows you to customize your browser with themes from artists around the world
  • Omnibox - A single box for both URLs and searching
  • Safe Browsing - Chrome will automatically protect you from Phishing attacks
